ICT mission in the Republic of Korea

Nowadays the Republic of Korea is at the 13th place in the ranking of the global economies. The extraordinary growth of the country does not find many comparisons worldwide, and the scientific research and technology innovation are considered among the keys of its success.
The trust put in scientific and technologial research as engine of the economic growth in a market more and more competitive has been confirmed by the Government despite the global economic crisis, keeping the expectation to raise the investments in public and private reserach to the 5% of GDP within the year 2012. The support of the Government and the industrial system to the sector of research and techological innovation has not faced any slowdown. As a matter of fact, the public funding of Research and Development have grown of 10.8% in 2009 compared with 2008, in line with the financial plan of the Government. According to the programs, the directions of the Government have concentrated R&D efforts in specific fields, selected in order to improve life conditions and increase competitiveness and innovation capabilities of the Korean industries, in both strenghtening and develpopment of new technologies. Furthermore, the Government confirms the strategic policy of increasing the collaboration between S&T and industrial environment, by granting higher fundings to tecnological research in specific fields. The “core technologies” identified by the Government are information technologies, life sciences, medical technologies, environmental technologies, nanotechnologies, energy technologies, aerospace technologies.
Promos Monza and Brianza (Special Agency of Milano Chamber of Commerce) organizes from 23rd to 29th of April an entrepreneurial mission in South Korea focused on ICT field. The event is also joined by Centro Estero per l’Internazionalizzazione through its Think-Up project, part of Torino Chamber of Commerce. The aim of the mission is to meet the main representatives of ICT sector as well as start and strenghten business and industrial cooperation through business-to-business meetings and visits to local scientific and business organizations.
The Korean companies will be selected based on specific requirements from the Italian firms. The mission is organized in collaboration with ITCCK, the Italian Chamber of Commerce in Korea.
